Managing Tasks with Things the GTD way

As someone who loves the workflow ideals of the GTD system by David Allen (I know, I’m hardly alone in this one), I’ve been on the hunt for a great system of managing my workflow. I gave the iGTD program a good run for a time but could never quite feel comfortable using it.
So, when I came across Things designed by the folks at CulturedCode I gave it a good run and I must confess that iGTD is a thing of the past. I love the relative simplicity of Things.
So, if you’re looking for a streamlined method to manage tasks, then I suggest giving Things a try. It’s a free Preview download since it’s still in Beta with an official release sometime in the spring of 2008. The cost will be $49 but if you signup to their newsletter, you can knock the cost down to $39 when it’s officially released.

I keep telling myself to post more fun links that I come across on an average day so this will be the first of more future installments. Sorry for the lack of a really cool, creative and cutting-edge subject line. Sometimes it’s ok to be blatantly obvious.
Today I’m offering three what I consider to be great links to check out:
- Mezzoman [ www.mezzoman.com ] - this is a clever tool to find that perfect spot between two addresses. Simply enter in the two different locations and click on what you want (food types, theaters, etc.) and voila! - you’ll be presented with some options between the two addresses. Brilliant!
- Instapaper [ www.instapaper.com ] - this was an absolute godsend to my browsing life. I’m often finding cool sites that I really want to explore more but can’t because the timing is inconvenient. This lets you essentially bookmark any given page with an easy way to visit things later. This is the ultimate tool for quick reference.
- iVideoSongs [ www.ivideosongs.com ] - this site appears to be in the early stages of development but it looks to be a great resource for guitar players looking to expand their abilities with online lessons. There is a small fee to a lot of the training but for a few bucks, the lessons look to be worth every cent.

I read this on BBC and it breaks my heart to hear of these events happening. I was in this capital city of N’Djamena just a few short years ago and fell in love with the people. It appears that this recent rebellion has ties to the Sudan and the genocide in Darfur. I encourage all of you to pray for this region of the world. These reports are disturbing and the bloodshed must be ended.
