[ LINK OF THE DAY ] - I came across this site which is a bit random but hey, I just donated 360 grains of rice…all by testing my knowledge of the English language.  Kudos to the one with the highest totals…  Do your best and post your total number in the comments.

Fun Links of the Day

February 6th, 2008

I keep telling myself to post more fun links that I come across on an average day so this will be the first of more future installments. Sorry for the lack of a really cool, creative and cutting-edge subject line. Sometimes it’s ok to be blatantly obvious.

Today I’m offering three what I consider to be great links to check out:

  1. Mezzoman [ www.mezzoman.com ] - this is a clever tool to find that perfect spot between two addresses.  Simply enter in the two different locations and click on what you want (food types, theaters, etc.) and voila! - you’ll be presented with some options between the two addresses.  Brilliant!
  2. Instapaper [ www.instapaper.com ] - this was an absolute godsend to my browsing life.  I’m often finding cool sites that I really want to explore more but can’t because the timing is inconvenient.  This lets you essentially bookmark any given page with an easy way to visit things later.  This is the ultimate tool for quick reference.
  3. iVideoSongs [ www.ivideosongs.com ] - this site appears to be in the early stages of development but it looks to be a great resource for guitar players looking to expand their abilities with online lessons.  There is a small fee to a lot of the training but for a few bucks, the lessons look to be worth every cent.

Tips to Unclutter Your Mind

January 24th, 2008

I’m getting more and more immersed in the wonderful and liberating world of lifestyle design which involves notions like personal productivity and maximizing my daily time. The end goal is not necessarily more work but ultimately to free up more time for the things that I really want to do … which may or may not be things that fall under the “work” category.

I want to avoid work for work’s sake and it involves making better moment to moment decisions to escape the tedium and unnecessary in order to focus on the truly important things and create real life momentum.

All that said, I came across a great article today regarding tips to “Unclutter Your Mind”.  [ “Three Tips to Unclutter Your Mind” ]

Looking to change or adjust your daily moods?  Ever thought about the role food plays in your body’s daily routine.  Check out this article on LifeHacker.com.  One of my favorite items is “sushi when you’re feeling depressed” which is another great reason to enjoy the delicious dish more often.

Your Mood: Restless You need some serious shut-eye before the big day.
Your Meal: Nonfat popcorn half an hour before you go to bed
Here’s Why: The carbs will induce your body to create serotonin, a neurochemical that makes you feel relaxed. “Make sure it’s fat-free, because fat will slow the process of boosting serotonin levels,” says Somer.
